A medical expert has provided Arsenal fans with a reassuring update after Gabriel Magalhaes appeared to pick up an injury on his debut for Brazil against Bolivia on Friday night. Brazil won the opening game of their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in style last night as they beat Bolivia by five goals to one. The Arsenal centre-back played the majority of the game before being substituted off in the 86th minute.
After arriving to the bench, Gabriel as seen holding an ice pack to his thigh which suggested he had come off the pitch due to an injury. The 25-year-old was the recipient of a nasty challenge from Diego Ibanez inside the opening five minutes, being struck in his right knee by the Bolivian, but he managed to play on for almost the entire match.

Twitter medical expert, Dr. Rajpal Brar provided an update on Gabriel’s injury after the game suggesting based on the issue being contact related, and not muscular, it’s good news for Arsenal.

It points to the injury being more or less a dead leg, rather than anything serious like a pulled muscle which is good news for Arsenal fans who have already seen Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey suffer long-term injuries in the early stages of the 2023/24 campaign.

The last thing Mikel Arteta needs is another defender on the treatment table, however the early signs suggests Gabriel’s injury is not a serious one and he could even feature for Brazil against Peru in their next World Cup qualifier against Peru this week.
Arsenal face Everton at Goodison Park in their first game back after the International break which is a fixture the Gunners lost last season in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge of the Toffees.
Mikel Arteta will be determined to make sure they get a positive result this time around, and having Gabriel available will go a long way to making that happen considering how aggressive Everton like to play, especially with new signing Beto in the team for the upcoming fixture.
Gabriel formed an outstanding partnership with fellow centre-back, William Saliba last season and although the Brazilian didn’t start the opening three Premier League games for the Gunners, he still remains an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad going forward, and if fit, is expected to start the match at Goodison Park next weekend.
