‘I want to leave’ – Player tells club amid interest from Manchester United

France star Benjamin Pavard has told Bayern Munich that he wants to leave the German club amid interest from Manchester United.

The Frenchman has primarily operated as a right-back during his time at the Allianz Arena, despite his preference to play centrally.

Manchester United were interested in signing the Bayern Munich defender in the summer but Erik ten Hag also views him as a right-back.

Pavard, who joined Bayern Munich from Stuggart for a fee of around £35million in 2019, has 18 months to run on his contract.

Meanwhile, F.former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has hailed Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag as one of the best coaches in the game after returning to Manchester United this week.

Van Persie returned to United’s training ground this week and was left impressed by Ten Hag’s methods, as he took to Instagram to thank the coach and club for the experience.

“Thanks for the warm welcome [Manchester United] and Erik ten Hag,” he wrote.

“Great time back at Carrington for a trip down memory lane and to learn the ropes from one of the best coaches in modern football.”
