Arsenal legend, Kevin Campbell has said that Mikel Arteta has to start Gabriel Jesus against Everton on Sunday, if he is deemed fit enough to play the match from the beginning. The Gunners travel to Goodison Park having not win there in the Premier League since 2017 and have also lost their last two games at the ground.
However Mikel Arteta will be hoping for a more positive result this time around off the back of a decent start to the 2023/24 season. Arsenal currently sit on 10 points after winning three and drawing one of their opening four games this season. Two late goals against Manchester United in their last match sent the Emirates into jubilation and provided a huge boost to the club ahead of the international break.
Gabriel Jesus is currently away on international duty with Brazil, however he didn’t start in their first game against Bolivia last week. His country face Peru on Tuesday night before Gabriel Jesus is expected back at London Colney on Thursday ahead of Arsenal’s game on the weekend.

Eddie Nketiah has filled in well at the beginning of this season for the injured Gabriel Jesus, however now the Brazilian is back fit, Kevin Cambell wants him to start at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Kevin Campbell on Gabriel Jesus: “Here’s a question, if Gabriel Jesus isn’t injured, do we win it? Even when he came back, he’s still catching up, isn’t he? He’s still trying to hit the level that he was before. Whereas earlier on in the season he was making such a massive difference.
“And yeah he wasn’t prolific, but everybody else was playing so well. That’s the Gabriel Jesus we need. He’s had his injury, he’s come back and he’s made a difference. Against Everton, I think Gabriel Jesus if he’s fit, I think he has to start because he makes that much of a difference for us at the top end of the pitch.
“We do need more goals from him, we need 20 goals from Gabriel Jesus this season but we also need [Bukayo] Saka to hit the heights, [Gabriel] Martinelli to hit the heights, Martin Odegaard to hit the heights, we need Kai Havertz to hit some form as well.”
Gabriel Jesus managed to find the back of the net in Arsenal’s last game against Manchester United, despite only being on the pitch for 16 minutes and he’ll hope to do that again on Sunday if he gets the nod over Eddie Nketiah to start the match.
