Manchester United are keeping an eye on Joao Felix, who wants to leave Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window, according to Portuguese publication A Bola.

The 22-year-old started the season strongly with a hat-trick of assists against Getafe, but has since failed to provide a single goal for his team.

He has so lost his starting spot and was reportedly disappointed in midweek when he was an unused substitute against Club Brugge.

According to Bola, Felix’s relationship with manager Diego Simeone has evidently deteriorated, and there is little chance of reconciliation before the New Year.

The Portuguese sensation is now considering leaving Atletico Madrid in the winter. United, who were connected with him frequently throughout the summer, are thought to be ‘attentive’ to the issue.

Meanwhile, Marca reports that the player spoke with his agent Jorge Mendes following the midweek snub, increasing questions over his future.

United Unlikely To Pay A Record Fee For Joao Felix In January

During the summer, United were frequently mentioned as potential suitors for the Portuguese international, and there was also rumors of them failing with a €130 million transfer approach.

We, on the other hand, do not believe in such things. United were reticent to pay the €100 million fee for Antony until the very last minute. They are unlikely to have offered substantially more for Felix.

The teenager is undeniably talented, but he has yet to discover the consistency that would propel him to the top of the international football rankings.

At Atletico, he has scored a total of 16 goals in a single season. Much more is expected of a player who cost Atletico Madrid €126 million.

Even if he becomes available in the transfer market this winter, United is unlikely to spend such a sum after John Murtough confirmed the club’s stance.

The football director made it plain that there will be no excessive expenditure going forward, with United’s primary focus being on strengthening the squad throughout the summer transfer windows.

Felix, who is now rated at €70 million by Transfermarkt, may have to wait until the conclusion of the season for a massive transfer bid from a European team.
