Michael Owen says he absolutely loves Arsenal star who has only played once this season

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker, Michael Owen, has voiced his admiration for the performance of Arsenal new goalkeeper, David Raya, during the win over Everton on Sunday.

Raya made his debut for the Gunners and had a memorable start by keeping a clean sheet in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Everton. Although he wasn’t overly tested by the Merseyside club, his composed performance in goal was a crucial factor in securing the win for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The impressive display by Raya has sparked a heated debate among football enthusiasts about whether the Spanish shot-stopper should be a regular starter for Arsenal in the future, potentially displacing Aaron Ramsdale.

During a recent appearance on Premier League Productions, Michael Owen shared his thoughts on the Raya vs. Ramsdale goalkeeper debate, expressing his admiration for Raya’s abilities as a player. Owen had previously praised Raya during his time at Brentford, predicting that he would eventually join a top-tier club.

“I love this lad. I think that Raya is a top-class goalkeeper. When I first saw him at Brentford, I said to anyone that would listen, ‘This lad is going to a top team,’ I thought he was brilliant right from minute one. 

“I feel sorry for Ramsdale; he’s done nothing wrong, but all of a sudden, after all of these great performances, his place is under pressure. I think they’re both going to get an equal crack of the whip,” Owen commented.

While Raya has only played one game for Arsenal thus far, his debut performance has already earned him praise and increased attention. Aaron Ramsdale, who may feel slightly disheartened by the potential competition, will now have to defend his place as the starting goalkeeper after a successful debut clean sheet.
