Arsenal had one of their busiest summer transfer windows ever as the club spent over £200million on four new signings which included Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, Kai Havertz and David Raya.

One of the most surprising signings was David Raya from Brentford on an initial £3million loan deal with a £27m obligation to buy come the end of the season. Mikel Arteta wanted two quality keepers he could trust with the club back in the Champions League for the first time in seven years.

The Spaniard is set to challenge Aaron Ramsdale for the number one spot this season and his chance could come very soon. Although so far Ramsdale has started all four Premier League games for the Gunners.

According to the Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta is apparently planning to give the Spanish stopper an extended run in between the sticks. David Raya is reportedly impressing the Arsenal manager during training and is set to get his chance to impress on the pitch very soon.

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards said in January: “Raya is a really, really good keeper and is another example of Brentford’s astute recruitment. He has done really well for them and is one of the most underrated keepers in the Premier League.”

Arsenal face David Raya’s former-side, Brentford in the Carabao Cup soon with the Spaniard being granted permission from the Bees to feature in that match so it’s likely then he will get the chance to make his debut for the Gunners.
