
Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola will miss his team’s next two matches due to an urgent back surgery procedure that required him to travel to Barcelona. The news was released by the Premier League champions on Tuesday.
Additionally, they verified that Juanma Lillo, the assistant manager, will supervise training and help on the sidelines during the next two games.
“Pep Guardiola underwent a routine procedure on a back problem today,” the club said in a statement.
“The Manchester City manager, who has recently been dealing with significant back discomfort, recently traveled to Barcelona for an urgent procedure by Dr. Mireia Illueca. After a successful surgery, Pep will now recover and undergo rehabilitation in Barcelona.
“While he is away, assistant manager Juanma Lillo will be in charge of the first team’s coaching on the practice field and take over the touchline duties until Pep’s return.He is anticipated to make a comeback during the upcoming international break.
